38 year-old Gianna Colombo lived in her cozy home town of Lindsay, Ontario. After college, Gianna was hired as an Administrative Assistant for the local high school, and was seen as a well-respected member of her community. Gianna’s family and friends all lived close by. Life was great, that is, until her father suddenly passed away followed by her mother six months later. Her life was turned upside-down.
Reeling from the death of her parents, work became increasingly difficult and Gianna often felt hopeless and confused. Gianna’s friends were very concerned and they convinced her to make an appointment with her family physician.
A few weeks later, Gianna began to suffer from episodes of severe pain. The attacks would target the muscles in her neck, arms and lower back causing them to knot and cramp. To make matters worse, Gianna was having difficulty sleeping and her constant state of fatigue was beginning to affect her performance at work. Gianna’s doctor referred her to a rheumatologist who diagnosed Gianna with Fibromyalgia, a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues.
With her chronic pain and anxiety mounting, Gianna took a leave of absence from work and applied for disability through her insurance company. Soon after applying, Gianna was told that the insurance company needed more information and medical evidence to support her claim. Exhausted, Gianna turned to an old family friend who was a lawyer in town.
With her lawyer`s aide, Gianna submitted medical documentation, and her lawyer wrote a few letters to support her claim. Each time she was met with the same response, “further medical evidence required”. After several months, Gianna felt hopeless. Her medical condition left her feeling physically and emotionally exhausted, and without her disability benefits, Gianna was suffering financially too. Fed up with her insurance company, Gianna`s lawyer suggested that she call Ontario’s leaders in disability litigation, Share Lawyers.
Gianna called Share Lawyers as she was unable to travel the long distance from Lindsay to Toronto and was happy to have a telephone consultation with associate lawyer, Samantha Share. Gianna was relieved to hear that the firm had represented countless clients in disability claims involving Fibromyalgia, and that they would not require any fees unless they settled her case. Gianna felt like she had the support she needed to fight for the benefits she deserved. Share Lawyers worked diligently and kept Gianna involved every step of the way. Approximately one year after Gianna`s initial consultation, ShareLawyers had successfully negotiated a fair and substantial settlement, and Gianna was finally able to focus on her health treatment and grieve for her loved ones.
