IN PERSON: Joseph Wong (continued from page 1)
But he couldn’t deny that a nagging pain and numbness in his right shoulder, the same one he had dislocated in the crash, was making it hard for him to practice dentistry on test patients.
To his great dismay, he could barely hold a tool in his right hand without experiencing severe discomfort. He was also finding it difficult to concentrate on his studies and could not retain information like he used to.
A TROUBLING DIAGNOSIS
An electromyography showed axillary nerve dysfunction in his shoulder and further testing showed that Joseph was also experiencing cognitive problems due to brain trauma.
His doctors couldn’t say for sure how long it would take for Joseph to make a full recovery. They referred him to a pain specialist and a neurologist, two people he would see often during the long rehabilitation process that was ahead of him
Joseph was distraught. It was as if the accident, which had occurred in the blink of an eye, had stolen all of his hopes and dreams for the future.
FINDING HOPE WITH SHARE LAWYERS
In the meantime, Share Lawyers was building a strong case against the at-fault driver for causing long-term disabilities that would prevent Joseph from pursuing his career.
Joseph was reassured that there was a way of being compensated for the pain, suffering and financial losses that he had experienced and would likely continue to experience in his future.
THE BIG DAY
After thorough preparation by the team of law clerks and lawyers at Share Lawyers, David Share and Joseph went to mediation.
David was able to negotiate a significant settlement that would afford Joseph the time and financial security he needed to rehabilitate and plan for a now uncertain future.[All names have been changed to protect the identity of the individuals mentioned.]
