I was fired from work because I have frozen shoulder and could not type for extended periods of time. My employer did not try to accommodate me at all. Now my long-term insurance company says that I am ineligible for benefits because I am no longer an employee. What are my options?
If you have been terminated due to a disability, you may have rights and remedies against your employer with respect to your wrongful dismissal and/or a right to file a human rights complaint. In addition, if you are disabled from the essential duties of your job, you should be given the opportunity to claim disability benefits.
