How do I manage a long term disability while continuing to work?
If you are suffering from a chronic medical condition but you and your doctors feel that you can try to continue to work, you would need to work with your employer to determine whether they will accommodate your restrictions and limitations. If you're receiving LTD benefits and are considering returning to work on a modified basis, you need to review the terms of your policy to determine your rights in the event that you are partially disabled. In some cases, there would be a requirement to top-up your pay based on a formula set out in the policy, and in some cases, you may not be entitled to any continuing LTD benefits.
