How do I calculate my short term disability benefits?
You will need to obtain a copy of your employee benefit booklet or the insurance policy from your employer’s human resources department or your short term disability insurance provider. That policy or booklet will tell you the percentage of your pre-disability income which will be covered by your short term disability plan. It will also define “income”. Generally, bonuses are not included in the definition of income and only your base salary will be considered in calculating your pre-disability income.
