You can and should put in a claim for short-term and long-term disability, particularly where it appears that your disability will go on for an extended period of time, and also where it appears that WSIB will likely deny your claim or any pay for a short period of time. It is better to make the application, even though it may be inconvenient, to ensure that no important deadlines are being missed to apply for STD and LTD, in the event that you may need it. In many cases, if your WSIB is approved, there may not be much more to recover from a disability insurer, but once again, having the application submitted will enable you to pursue these benefits if WSIB does not accept your claim.
