When am I eligible to receive short or long-term disability
benefits?
You first have to be enrolled in the Group Benefit Plan. Most
employers and insurers require you to be working in your new job for a period
of 3 months, which can sometimes be waived. Once enrolled, you
would be eligible to claim disability benefits. You should check your benefit
booklet or information that you were provided to verify what coverage you
actually have. If you are unable to work and have medical support for the
disability, you should be contacting your employer for the necessary forms to
submit to the insurance company or disability claims manager as soon as
possible after you become disabled.
